Give the Gift of Family History

Whether it’s a birthday, retirement, anniversary, or simply a thoughtful surprise, an Ancestor Story gift voucher offers something a little different: the opportunity to discover the life of a real person from the recipient’s family history.

Each voucher can be redeemed against a Regency Relatives research service and includes personalised historical research, original record investigation, and a professionally written report.

What Can a Gift Voucher Be Used For?

How it Works

  2. I will contact you within five working days to discuss your requirements.
  3. Once payment is received, a personalised gift voucher will be issued.
  4. The recipient can redeem their voucher when they are ready to begin their research journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Any information you can provide is helpful, but many enquiries begin with only a name, approximate date, or family story.

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

I don’t offer a ‘family tree in a box’ service. Family history is often far more complicated, and far more interesting, than that.

Family history research is rarely a case of simply pressing a button and producing a complete family tree. Every family is different, records vary enormously depending on time period and location, and successful research often involves evaluating evidence, resolving conflicting information, and occasionally accepting that some questions cannot be answered with certainty.

Rather than offering a “family tree package”, Regency Relatives focuses on helping clients explore specific ancestors, family stories, and research questions. This approach allows research to be tailored to the individual rather than producing a large tree that may contain information of uncertain accuracy.

If you are looking to learn more about your family history, you may be interested in:

  • Ancestor Snapshot – a concise introduction to an individual ancestor, including key records and historical context.
  • Ancestor Story – a more detailed exploration of an ancestor’s life, placing them within the wider social and historical landscape of their time.
  • Brick Wall Research – focused investigation into a specific family history problem, mystery, or missing connection.
  • Research Consultation – guidance on where to begin, how to organise your research, and which records may be most useful for your particular circumstances.

If you are unsure which option is right for you, please get in touch and I would be happy to discuss your research goals.

Please allow enough time for your enquiry to be discussed if you are purchasing a voucher for a specific service, as this will be a bespoke request. A good guide is to place an enquiry with at least one month’s notice.

If you are short on time, you can request a voucher of a certain value, rather than for a service, which can then be redeemed as full or part payment towards the recipient’s service of choice.

Yes. A personal message can be included on the voucher at no additional cost.

At present, vouchers are supplied as professionally designed digital PDFs that can be printed or forwarded electronically.

MEET THE RESEARCHER

I’m Lisa, a family historian with a particular interest in Regency and Georgian lives. I spend far too much time in archives, drink alarming amounts of tea, and occasionally discover that an entire branch of a family tree is based on an assumption I made in 2007. Find out more about this unsupervised historian.
